In the first episode of Series 9 ( Heads You Lose ), Kirsty plays the part of Nurse Shannon Hayes. A relationship develops between her and Detective Inspector Peter Pascoe, who had become one of her patients after being admitted to hospital as a result of a car crash. A number of murders had taken place at the hospital, with various body parts turning up in a nearby lake, including those of a friend. Naturally nervous by these discoveries, she is keen to move out of the nurses' residence and Peter offers her the keys to his flat whist he is recovering. Sadly, their relationship ends in tragedy when Shannon is killed in a car crash.
